A: Skaggs Foundation strives to improve health and wellness initiatives with a focus on Taney and Stone counties. Practically, this is fulfilled by:

• Awarding grants every year through the Skaggs Legacy Endowment
• Awarding scholarships for students pursuing degrees in the medical field
• Participating in community groups to stay aware of local resources and needs in the community
• Encourage collaboration by connecting individuals, non-profits, and schools
• Building relationships within the community to not only better understand local needs, but identify opportunities to be part of the solution
• Raising funds to be prepared when projects arise that align with our mission to offer support
• Providing community education opportunities to learn about relevant health-related topics

At Skaggs Foundation, all funds raised are to support Stone and Taney county community health and wellness programs and projects for the betterment of our residents. Skaggs Foundation looks at the broader picture of the health needs in the two counties and comes along side organizations that are the “boots on the ground”. The board and staff at Skaggs Foundation are always looking for opportunities to be connectors, change-makers, and a catalyst for meaningful change.

Skaggs Foundation is a 501(c)3 public charity. Fundraising is a core part of how the foundation funds programs such as:

• Meals for cancer patients receiving treatment
• Patients at Cox Medical Center Branson, in need of transportation assistancemay receive cab rides or fuel cards to and from medical appointments.
• Employee assistance is provided to Cox Branson employees facing hardships
• Funding support is provided through sponsorships helping local residents.

You can receive a tax-deductible receipt for donating a car, boat, or RV to Skaggs Foundation. The process is simple and only takes a few minutes to complete. Learn more here.

Skaggs Foundation does not provide funding to individuals, but through the Skaggs Legacy Endowment Grants program, many local nonprofit organizations receive grant funding to assist with things like rent assistance, dental care, and mental health. One project that was funded through Skaggs Foundation was the creation of a comprehensive resource guide that anyone can access. Visit ResourcestotheRescue.org for more information.

Through the Skaggs Legacy Endowment Grants (SLEG), Skaggs Foundation provides funding for transportation to organizations to utilize at their discretion. Once the funds are distributed, it is at the discretion of the hospital or other non-profit organization to allocate funding.

Skaggs Foundation does not have a volunteer program. Sometimes volunteers are needed for fundraising events, but Skaggs Foundation does not have other volunteer opportunities at this time.

Skaggs Foundation offers a robust grant program called the Skaggs Legacy Endowment Grants. Through the policies and procedures, grants are awarded to non- profits, schools and government agencies. Applications for personal grants are not accepted. Learn more on the Grants page.

Skaggs Foundation awards scholarships during the spring and fall to students who reside in Stone or Taney counties, Missouri and Boone county Arkansas who are pursuing a degree in the medical field. Students can apply each semester for a scholarship as long as they meet all the requirements. Learn more on the Scholarship page. Skaggs Foundation also provides scholarship funding through the Robert Alexander Scholarship to Cox Medical Center Branson employees. After much discussion, the Skaggs Foundation board of directors decided not to provide water bottles for the upcoming school year. Skaggs Foundation is reevaluating other needs of the local public schools to better distribute funds where it is needed most.

Through a partnership with Cox Medical Center Branson, when a patient is ready to discharge from the hospital and has been accepted to a sober living facility, a case worker will assess the patient’s financial situation. If it is determined that the patient has no means of payment, then the case worker will submit a request for Skaggs Foundation to cover the entry fee.

Through the Skaggs Legacy Endowment Grant program, Skaggs Foundation has awarded a grant to the CoxHealth Foundation to assist Cox Medical Center Branson patients with medical bills. Information about how to apply is on the CoxHealth Foundation website.

Skaggs Foundation is not a homeless shelter. Information about homeless shelters can be found on a website funded by Skaggs Foundation, Resources to the Rescue.

Skaggs Foundation supports other non-profits with sponsorships including project graduations. Each request is carefully reviewed to ensure mission alignment before any decision is made. To make a request, please submit an email request including event flyers to Foundation@skaggs.net.
